Journey into the Heart of Knowledge: Smoking Ceremony, Artwork & Kaurna Language Unveiling
We are honoured to launch and unveil Journey into the Heart of Knowledge, a stunning artwork created by Lawson ‘Wukawe’ Dodd, a proud Kaurna, Narungga, and Ngarrindjeri man, and Flinders Alumni. This event will commence with a Smoking Ceremony performed by Cliffy ‘Tangku Munaitya’ Wilson, a proud Kaurna, Narungga, Ngarrindjeri, Ngadjuri, and Arrente man.
Additionally, and as part of our commitment to the Flinders University’s Reconciliation Action plan, the Library will also begin to use the Kaurna wording Ngutungka meaning “place of knowledge”, used with permission by Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi (KWK). This name not only enriches the identity of our Library, but reflects our values of shared knowledge, community, and unity.
Your presence at this event would mean a great deal to us as we celebrate and honour the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the Kaurna people.
We look forward to sharing this significant moment with you.
