Join us for a week of workshops, exercises and strategies to perfect your audition technique.

Flinders Drama Centre is excited to present the return of Audition Bootcamp, back by popular demand this Monday, September 28th – Friday, October 2nd from 10am – 1pm.

Designed to help young people thrive in the high-pressure audition environment, the Audition Bootcamp will be a fun filled and comprehensive way to find out tips and skills to help overcome nerves, build confidence, and practice techniques to help budding actors perform at their very best on the day.

The Bootcamp provides five days of play, with short workshops in movement, voice, acting and rehearsal techniques, culminating in a “mock” audition, where you get to practice presenting your work to the group in a low stake, highly supportive environment.

Led by legendary Australian actress and actor-trainer Glenda Linscott (former Head of Acting at WAAPA) with Dr Tiffany Knight and Dr Renato Musolino of Flinders Drama Centre, this special training intensive will take place over five mornings in the school holidays at the internationally renowned Flinders Drama Centre – South Australia’s centre for actor training.

Make a film within a day – Join the November Session

New session added, this is a repeat of the April session.

You are invited to discover Film and Television at Flinders University, Bedford Park. Explore the campus, meet passionate teachers / filmmakers, and learn about jobs in the film and television industry. Over the course of the day produce, film and edit a micro short film, and record a filmmaker statement that can be used in your portfolio application.

This interactive filmmaking workshop is open to current Year 12 students.

No experience required, but bookings are essential as places are limited. Please note: students may attend one session (April or November), but not both.

Regulating Sexual Violence Content across Screen and Online Media will bring together scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and industry stakeholders to address the urgent challenges posed by the circulation and consumption of illegal recorded sexual violence content, including image‑based sexual abuse (IBSA) material and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). As sexual violence content is increasingly produced, distributed, and encountered across both screen‑based and online platforms, regulatory institutions, digital platforms, and frontline agencies face escalating demands for effective, prevention‑focused responses.

This half-day workshop will provide a rare cross-sector space for examining how sexual violence content is governed in Australia and internationally, and how regulatory approaches might better account for platform dynamics, user behaviours, technological affordances, and the evolving nature of online sexual offending.

By integrating criminological, policy, legal, technological, and screen- and media-focused perspectives, the workshop will support evidence‑informed dialogue and help shape more effective responses to the proliferation of sexual violence content across screen and online environments. The event also aims to foster sustained collaboration between academics, government agencies, NGOs, digital platforms, and practitioners committed to addressing screen-based sexual violence and online harm.

Places are limited and catering will be provided based on registration numbers. If you can no longer attend, please cancel your registration as soon as possible so that your place can be offered to another participant. Please advise of any dietary requirements at registration.

The workshop will be followed by a free evening screening of short films ‘Screening Sexual Violence: Representation, Regulation, Response’ at Mercury Cinema (13 Morphett St, Adelaide) from 6pm.

How can storytelling contribute to the prevention of sexual violence?

This special screening brings together a curated selection of narrative and documentary short films exploring sexual violence across screen and online environments, including image-based sexual abuse (IBSA), gender-based violence, and the social and cultural conditions that enable harm.

The films offer diverse perspectives on experiences of violence, survival, accountability, resistance, and prevention. Together, they invite audiences to consider how sexual violence is represented, understood, and challenged through screen media.

The short films are curated by – and will be introduced by – Claire Henry (Associate Professor in Screen, Flinders University) and Donna Peberdy (Professor of Gender, Sexuality, Screen and Culture, Southampton Solent University, UK).

Following the screening, audience members are invited to stay for a panel discussion with filmmakers, researchers, and frontline practitioners working in sexual violence prevention, survivor advocacy, and digital safety education. The discussion will explore the role of media, policy, regulation, education, and community action in responding to screen-based and online harms, while highlighting pathways towards prevention and social change.

This event is designed to foster thoughtful, informed, and respectful conversation about one of the most pressing challenges facing contemporary media and digital culture.

Content note: The films and discussion address themes of sexual violence, image-based abuse, gender-based violence, and related harms. No explicit abuse material will be shown. Audience members are encouraged to engage in ways that feel appropriate to their wellbeing, and support resources will be available.
