Visual Effects & Entertainment Design Workshops, CDW Studios

Get an introductory insight to the industry whilst learning techniques that you can apply straight away! These workshops are a fantastic starting point for those who are curious about venturing into the competitive world of visual effects and entertainment design. In this half-day workshop, students will explore figure drawing and character design, providing a real taste of industry life and practical skills that they can use straight away.

Figure Drawing Workshop (10:00am-11:30am)

Want to take your drawing skills to the next level? Figure drawing is a great skill for aspiring character designers and future animators to develop. In this workshop, students will sketch from a live model as they explore anatomy, movement, form and value. It’s a rare opportunity to learn professional techniques and bring characters to life with more depth and realism. It’s a rare opportunity to learn professional techniques and bring characters to life with more depth and realism. Students are asked to bring own paper or sketch pads – A4 or A3 is best.  They will also need a pencil for sketching. A softer lead is better, we recommend a 2B.

 Character Design Workshop (12:30pm-2:00pm)

In this workshop, students will be introduced to Character Design with a crash course on proportion, anatomy and design. They can unleash their creativity and bring their characters to life under expert guidance, in a workshop that promises to ignite their passion for character design. Please bring your own drawing equipment. They can follow along with pencil and paper, their iPad if they have it, a drawing tablet and laptop. This class is not software specific. We will be teaching the process.
