Event Details

Inviting all male & female scientists, STEMM students and staff to participate in a lab coat decorating event & our biggest photo challenge yet to celebrate IWD 2020, followed by a movie screen of ‘Calculating Ada’.

11am – ‘Pimp up’ your lab coat – Best STEMM-decorated lab coat wins*
12.45pm – Welcome address – Prof. Colin Stirling, Vice-Chancellor
12.55pm – Lab Coat Challenge photo
1.05pm – Guest speaker Dr. Carmen Da Silva
1.20pm – Prize announcement
1.40pm – 4pm – Movie screening ‘Calculating Ada’


Students will receive a FREE lab coat on registration, get in early so you don’t miss out.

About ‘Calculating Ada’: The Countess of Computing, a documentary in which Dr Hannah Fry tells the story of Ada Lovelace’s remarkable life – a 19th-century countess whose work helped give rise to the modern era of computing. Ada Lovelace was a most unlikely computer pioneer.



Terms and Conditions:

*The best ‘STEM’ decorated laboratory coat will be selected by agreement of the STEM Women Branching Out Team at 1:30pm. Selection of the winner and the decision of the STEM Women Branching Out Team is final. No further discussions will be entered regarding the winner.

**The number of free lab coats is limited and is determined by the Office of Communication, Marketing and Engagement. Flinders students only who register via this form and attend the event will be receive a White lab coat, if available. The style and type of coat will be at the discretion of the event organiser. Specific sizes not guaranteed.
