Engineering Taster Day

Flinders University is inviting you to participate in an exclusive and exciting Engineering & Design Event!

• when: 9.30am-1.30pm Tuesday October 1st

• where: Flinders University, Tonsley

• why: to give you close-up opportunities and hands-on experiences in different areas of Engineering and Design, so that you can make the right decision regarding your future studies and career

• what: participate in these workshops:

• Civil Engineering: Civil Engineers build a sustainable future. This interactive session will expose you to different construction materials so you understand their strength and load carrying capacity. Additionally, an interactive session on sustainability will be run to gain an appreciation of how modern engineers need to think. If you were given $ 1 billion dollars, could you select carbon neutral infrastructure to run a small town? Let’s find out.
• Mechanical Engineering: Hear about real-world applications of shape memory alloys and how NASA reinvented the wheel! You will experiment with and see how you can use a spring made out of a shape memory alloy as a “muscle” to lift a weight!
• Robotics Engineering & Electrical and Electronic Engineering: Meet and control a robot! You will also learn how robotic systems work and can ask any questions about AI and machine intelligence.

• speak with current students
• get your questions answered by lecturers, academics, and researchers
