The Second Flinders' Symposium on Miscarriages of Justice

The Second Flinders' Symposium on Miscarriages of Justice will presented by The Honourable Malcolm McCusker AC CVO QC


Leading speakers will discuss the role of expert witnesses, the development of an exonerations registry, the role of innocence projects the psychology of wrongful convictions and the need for legal and institutional reforms. New rights of criminal appeal have been established in South Australia and Tasmania; Western Australia has the matter under consideration. As a result, Henry Keogh’s conviction in South Australia was overturned after he had served 21 years in prison - he will speak about his experience. Dr Bob Moles will discuss some of the background to the Keogh case. Graham Archer from Channel 7 will explain some of the hidden problems in the media campaigning for wrongful convictions.
